It has been quite some time since the release of iOS 6 Firmware. In this post, I shall be given you tutorials on how to jailbreak iPhone 4/3Gs & iPod touch on iOS 6.0 firmware tethered with supported iOS Devices such as: iPod touches 4th Generation, iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.

As a reminder, this jailbreak is not compatible with newer iOS devices such as:

• iPod touch 5th Gen
• iPhone 5
• iPhone 4S
• 3rd Generation iPad 3
• iPad 2

iPhone Dev Team has updated RedSn0w jailbreak tool to be able to jailbreak iOS 6 with native Cydia support.  This new development brings complete 6.0 support for Cydia.

The only setback, however, is that, even with the new version of Redsnow, iOS-device users can only jailbreak iOS 6 using what's commonly referred to as a Tethered jailbreak . Essentially, this means the device will have to be booted with the assistance of the RedSnow jailbreak utility every time it's turned on.

Required Downloads

• Make sure your device is running on iOS 6.
• redsn0w 0.9.15b1 for MAC OS X users
• Or download redsn0w 0.9.15b1 for Windows Operating system

Steps to Jailbreak iPhone 4/3Gs & iPod touch on iOS 6.0 Firmware

• First off, Download the latest version of Redsn0w (which is 15b1 compatible with your computer operating system from my links above)
• After downloading RedSn0w, run the utility and you will see a window like what is in the picture above. Note: Also, for windows 7 and Vista users, you'll be required to right-click the Redsnow, set the compatibility mode for Windows XP (service pack 2) and allow Administrative privileges.
• Next,  click the "Jailbreak" option and set your iOS 6 device into DFU mode by holding down the home and power buttons together for a total of ten seconds. After the initial ten seconds are up, release the power button and continue holding the home button for an additional ten seconds Do not worry Redsn0w utility will guide you through how to enter the DFU mode.
• Redsnow will now try to process your firmware info. And once this is done, make sure that the option to install Cydia was checked by default and continue.
• Now the waiting starts. And you should know that this is in two parts, part one is with redsnow on your pc while part 2 of the process will be completed on your phone. Please do not interrupt this process. Wait for the jailbreaking process to complete, after it has, your iPhone or iPod touch will automatically reboot.
• Finally, close the Redsn0w utility and reopen it. Click "Extras", followed by "Just boot" and enter DFU mode again (refer to the second step).

This will successfully boot your phone and congrats you have jailbroken your iOS Device on firmware 6.0.. If by any means you need to unlock your iDevice again, then use Ultrasnow fixer from cydia to do this.

Important Notice!

If you have a further question(s) please ask here and don't forget that this is a tethered jailbreak which means you shouldn't always allow your phone to completely shut down on you if you are not close to your computer. This is because anytime your phone completely shut down, you will need Redsnow to boot it up. If you've found this useful, please share it.
